3 Creative Crafts You Can Make Using Pool Noodles

February 08, 2019

When you think of pool noodles, what comes to mind? You might recall splashing around in a pool with your kids on a warm, summer day. While using a pool noodle for swimming is always a blast, these soft, colourful foam products are incredibly versatile. They can be used for a broad range of purposes, including making fun crafts with your kids. The only limit is your imagination.

In this blog, we’ll share 3 cheap and easy crafts you can make using pool noodles. Children and adults alike will love decorating the house with these fun ideas:

Garland Decor

For this decoration, simply cut the noodles lengthwise into circles that are 1cm thick. Then, thread them onto a piece of string. We recommend using several alternating colours. The length of the garland depends on where you want to hang it. It can be hung on your doors, windows, or across a room. Choose from a range of fun colours—this décor is sure to bring joy to any room.

Pool Noodle Basketball

While your kids might love playing basketball, conventional basketball hoops may be too challenging for kids at a young age. Fortunately, you can create your own basketball hoop using a pool noodle. Simply tape or glue together two ends of a pool noodle to form a circle. Then, attach it to a wall using tape. Feel free to try different heights, or create multiple hoops. You’re ready to play basketball with your own DIY hoops.

Life-Sized Tic-Tac-Toe

This craft is not only fun to make, but also fun to play with! To play Tic-Tac-Toe, you need a board, X’s, and O’s. To make the X’s, cut a pool noodle in half. Then, place the two segments into an X shape. Where the two noodles meet, cut halfway into each noodle so they can fit together like puzzle pieces. For the O’s, bring the two ends of a pool noodle together to form a circle. Then glue or tape the two ends together. For the playing board, lay several pool noodles onto your floor to make a 3 by 3 grid. Make sure the grid is large enough to fit your X’s and O’s. Glue or tape the grid in place. Voila! You’re ready to play.
